GSA members will benefit with discounted fees.  Neither submission of an abstract nor GSA membership is required for attendance at the meeting. Advance Registration and Payment Options

 

You may register for the meeting online with a credit card or mail in an early registration form for payment by check. The registration form will only be processed if accompanied by payment. Payment may be made by: credit card or a check drawn on a U.S. bank, payable to the Genetics Society of America. Keep a copy for your records.

Online: The online registration will open on January 15, 2014. Your registration receipt and confirmation will be automatically emailed to you after a successful submission. The Genetics Society of America accepts the following credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

Mail: Complete the form online, print it out and mail the form with payment to the GSA office. Send the form with credit card information or a check drawn on a US bank to the following address: Chlamydomonas Registration, Genetics Society of America, 9650 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20814. Checks should be made payable to the Genetics Society of America (GSA). GSA does not accept purchase orders for registration payments.

After May 8, 2014 you can register online at the higher rates.

 


 

 Travel Awards


We hope to be able to provide a limited number of travel awards for graduate students and postdocs to help off-set the cost of attending the meeting.  Priority will be given to those that are first authors on abstracts. Graduate students and postdocs who are in those groups traditionally underrepresented in science (women, members of ethnic minorities, persons with disabilities) are particularly encouraged to apply.

Applications must include:

 

  1. One- to two-page CV that includes your name, address, and email address, educational and research background, honors and awards, and publications.
     
  2. Brief summary of current research interests and interest in attending this meeting.
     
  3. Explanation of financial need.
     
  4. Statement describing your inclusion in a group under-represented in science, if applicable.
     
  5. A letter from your current advisor (if applicable) that addresses your scientific contributions and financial need (emailed separately).
     
  6. Submitted abstract.

GSA DeLill Nasser Award

for Professional Development in Genetics

 

Deadline has passed.

 

This award is named for long-time GSA member and National Science Foundation Program Director in Eukaryotic Genetics, DeLill Nasser. It is given in recognition of the critical role she played in research and for her love of genetics. The award is for graduate students and postdoctoral trainees, to support travel costs for young geneticists to attend national and international meetings and enroll in laboratory courses. GSA Undergraduate Travel Award


Application Deadline: March 21, 2014

GSA Undergraduate Travel Awards are available to promote excellence in undergraduate research and education. This award will provide travel support funds to undergraduate members of GSA who will be presenting research findings at a GSA-sponsored conference.  Visit the award website for more information and to apply.

 

 

FASEB-MARC Travel Awards

Deadline for application: March 28, 2014

The FASEB-MARC Program provides funding for travel awards to support the participation of faculty/mentors, students, post-baccalaureates, postdoctoral fellows, and students from minority institutions and historically black colleges and universities. Underrepresented minority faculty, students, and postdoctoral fellows from majority institutions are also eligible to apply for the travel awards. The travel awards are funded up to $1,850 each for travel-related expenses and for meeting registration. Travel awards are provided as reimbursements after the meeting.

FASEB MARC travel awards are processed as reimbursements to the award recipients. An award recipient will be required to pay his/her meeting and travel-related expenses first and then request reimbursement from the FASEB MARC Program Office after completion of the meeting/conference. Meeting T-Shirts

 

Meeting t-shirts are available for purchase on the online registration. The shirts are $10 and will be distributed when attendees register at the meeting.

Cancellation of Advance Registration

 

A $50 processing fee will be charged for all registration cancellations. Registration cancellations must be sent to mahoney@genetics-gsa.org. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after May 9, 2014.

 


 

Certificate of Attendance

 

Certificates of attendance will be available at the conference registration desk when they check in. Anyone needing a certificate after the meeting should contact mahoney@genetics-gsa.org
 


 

Program Book

 

All registrants receive one complimentary copy of the Program Book. The program book includes the full schedule information including platform and poster session date, time, title, authors, abstracts and author index.

The conference registration and book pick up area will be open according to the following schedule:

Cameras, Cell phones and Video Recording Devices

 

By attending a GSA conference, you grant GSA with the right to use your photograph, name, and likeness for use in GSA educational, news, or promotional materials. GSA will take steps to avoid sharing the content of presentations and posters in order to protect unpublished data. Please note that the use of cameras and other recording devices in plenary, platform, and poster sessions is prohibited without expressed permission from an authorized GSA representative.
